BILL HEARING: Accessory Dwelling Units

Washington’s House Housing Committee will hear testimony for HB 1337, a bill to allow more backyard cottages and in-law apartments in urban neighborhoods throughout the state.

These accessory dwelling units (ADUs) are important pieces to the puzzle of addressing Washington’s severe housing shortage. They open up smaller and more affordable options for, say, the grandparents who want to downsize and age in place near their children or the young family seeking a home near their jobs and daycare. They’re one of the ways we add the homes we need, tucked into existing buildings, houses, and neighborhoods, in the places people need to live more affordably—near our cities’ vibrant established shops, services, transit, infrastructure, and jobs.

The hearing will take place at 1:30 p.m., today! Sign in “Pro” or register to testify to support ADUs in WA!
